The River Wye is host to a range of fish species, including, barbel, chub, perch, roach, pike and dace. Free coarse fishing is available on a one-mile beat within walking distance of Orchard View. Access by car is very straightforward along a farm track.

A car is essential for exploring the area as there is no public transport available, and the nearest shopping facilities are in the market town of Ross-on-Wye, 5 miles away. A range of attractions at Symonds Yat, 10 miles distant, include a butterfly farm, canoeing and river boat trips, and excellent bird-watching opportunities. The cottage is an ideal base for exploring the Forest of Dean, Malvern Hills and Black Mountains.
